Mission

The Association of University Presses (AUP, also International Association of University Presses) is an international non-profit organization. It provides a multilingual forum for University Presses worldwide. It connects its members from North and South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Oceania and Australia. AUP members dedicate their work to the academic community and the public and fulfill an important role for education, for distribution of knowledge and for advancing the society.

Cooperation

The AUP members around the world face the same challenges of non-commercial academic publishing with small numbers of copies and of the new trend of digitalization. The AUP promotes innovative solutions by encouraging Presses with best practice solutions to share them with all members. One goal is to create a platform with easy access to all publications of member presses.

Support of likewise minded Associations and Initiatives

The AUP is multilingual and globally oriented and therefore cannot compete with or substitute the great work done in the regional associations. The AUP therefore especially encourages US University Presses to join the American Assocation of University Presses (AAUP) as well as Spanish University Presses to join the Asociación de Editores Universitarios Españoles (UNE). They offer Annual Meetings and a rich portfolio of services just around the corner for the regional members. If the AUP meets in Frankfurt, often only few presses can participate. AUP members often only meet online. Many more members can come e.g. to the regional AAUP Meetings. The AUP supports all likewise minded regional associations and other likewise minded initiatives like Open Access or the Convention of University Presses.

Annual Meeting October 8-12, 2014

The next Annual Meeting is at the Frankfurt Bookfair October 8-12, 2014, at the Convention of University Presses organized by Jesús Jimenez et al..
